Datarock, Mando Diao pump up SXSW

The Scandinavians strut their stuff

Datarock and Mando Diao kept the party jumping at Spaceland‘s South By SouthWest showcase at Antone‘s on the western side of the Texas capitol today (March 15).

Dressed in matching red hoodies and dark glasses, Datarock got the crowd going with their straight-ahead rock and ska influenced music at the party hosted by the Los Angeles home to Club NME with Fred Perry Subculture.

The Norwegian “new rave” band shared the bill with fellow Scandinavians Mando Diao.

Looking sharp in black and gray, the Swedish quintet delivered an aggressive, guitar-heavy set. “We came here all the way from Sweden,” Bjorn Dixgard told the crowd, in case they didn’t already know.

Powerful ceiling fans helped keep the heat at bay on this sweltering day, as well as the famous and highly popular ice cream truck that offers free icy treats to SXSW-goers.
