Gruff Rhys left without instruments at SXSW

But the Super Furry Animals manpulls off first show

Gruff Rhys performed his first show of the week at South By Southwest this afternoon (March 15) despite the loss of his luggage and instruments yesterday.

Rhys and co-performer Lisa Jen Brown were both left without clothes and music gear, which were lost in transit from London.

The Under the Radar party performance was saved at the last minute when ten minutes after his scheduled start time, Rhys’ guitar was delivered to the venue and he performed a short acoustic set.

“We’ve been in the same clothes for two days, and we’re about to head back to the airport to see if they’ve found anything,” the Super Furry Animals frontman told NME.COM. “We have another show in two hours.”

Delivering a set mostly comprised of material from his ‘Candylion’ album, and a cover of Meic Stevens‘Y Brawd Houdini’, Rhys treated the audience to his usual mix of comedic anecdotes and music.

He played:

‘Gyrru Gyrru’

‘Court of King Arthur’

‘Lonesome Words’

‘Cycle of Violence’

‘Y Brawd Houdini’
