The Duke Spirit wrap up KCRW showcase at SXSW

They bring day one to a close in Austin

The Duke Spirit wrapped up the first day of SXSW tonight (March 12) with a KCRW show at 1am Buffalo Billiards on 6th Street.

Wearing a skintight black ensemble with a feather and jewelled embellishment, singer Leila Moss thrilled the late-night audience with her demonstrative stage movements and gestures, mesmerizing the largely male-contingent in the crowd.

The band played a selection of songs from their forthcoming album ‘Neptune’, including ‘Neptune Calls’ which Moss joked “is about a fella wot lives under the ocean” before launching into ‘The Step And The Walk’.

Dedicating ‘Love Is An Unfamiliar Name’ to “the people that came to see us two years ago”, Moss asked the crowd to “show us your hips” before wrapping the set up with a rendition of ‘Red Weather’.

They played:

‘Love Token’

‘Dog Roses’

‘Neptune Calls’

‘The Step And The Walk’

‘Sunken Treasure’

‘This Ship Was Built To Last’

‘Love Is An Unfamiliar Name’

‘Red Weather’
