US rock goes Down Under...

ALIEN ANT FARM and SYSTEM OF A DOWN have been added to the line-up of the BIG DAY OUT festival in AUSTRALIA.

As revealed yesterday on NME.COM, Silverchair, Faithless and Jurassic 5 were amongst the second set of bands announced for next year’s event, confirmed to take place from the end of January in Auckland (January 18), the Gold Coast (20), Sydney (26), Melbourne (28), Adelaide (February 1) and Perth (3).

Now, Alien Ant Farm and System Of A Down are confirmed for the Auckland and East Coast shows.

This year’s headliners include The Prodigy, Garbage and New Order

Festival organisers have announced major changes to the way the event is run following the death of a teenager last year, including the introduction of a “recommended minimum age” of 15 to enter the show.

Other improvements include more security in the crowd and a free “Big Day Out pack” which will contain a refillable bottle of water, program and safety information.
