Chas & Dave to re-release ‘Snooker Loopy’ – Tabloid Hell

They're recruiting a new Matchroom Mob backing group

Chas & Dave are planning to re-release their 1986 hit ‘Snooker Loopy’ to mark its 25th anniversary.

According to reports, the duo will re-record their cheesy hit, which originally reached Number 6 in the UK Singles Charts, along with a host of current snooker stars as their backing band The Matchroom Mob.

It has not been revealed which players are involved, reports the Mirror, but the band are understood to have held auditions earlier this week (April 18).

Despite the re-release, World Snooker chairman Barry Hearn admitted that the song may not go down too well with music fans in general: “It might give the nation nightmares,” he said, “but the time is right for a remake. Snooker is going places.”

The song is set to come out in September.
