The band with the most famous drummer in rock make their debut at a secret gig in Scotland...

Tailgunner made their live debut last night (August 3), at a sold- out secret gig in SCOTLAND.

The band, minus Oasis guitarist Noel Gallagher, who plays drums on the band’s eponymous debut album, played a low-key gig at the 400-capacity Rico’s club in Greenock, a small town near Glasgow. The band played a seven song, 30-minute set.

Fans at the gig showed disappointment at the no-show of Gallagher, who had been rumoured to be making an impromptu appearance with the band, but most came away surprised how different from Oasis Tailgunner are, and how loud the gig was.

One fan told nme.com: “We came down to see what the band are like, and Oasis it isn’t. Tailgunner are the loudest, heaviest band we have ever seen in here. It was quite a surprise!”

Speaking exclusively to nme.com after the show, Tailgunner vocalist and songwriter Mark Coyle said his biggest fear would be forgetting all the words to the songs. He continued: “I think the important thing for new bands is that they should be loud, short and fast. And then fuck off. These gigs should be rockin’, and tonight was.

“We also want to get Jack, the new drummer settled, he’s only been in the band for two weeks. He’s doing really wellhe’s the man for the job!”

The full set ran: ‘Undercover’ ‘Living For Real’ ‘Give It Up’ ‘Blow Up’ ‘Big Star’ ‘Crazy Horse’ ‘Reefer Keeper’

The band will play another three dates in Scotland over the coming days, at: Portree Community Centre (August 4), Nairn Foxes (5) and Inverness Blue (6).

Noel is not expected to join Tailgunner for any of their live dates in the forseeable future, but the possibility of him making a guest appearance at some point has not been ruled out.

The band’s debut single, ‘Coming Back Home’, which was not played tonight, is released on August 28 through No Label Records. The album, ‘Tailgunner’, follows on September 18.

Following the release of the album, Tailgunner plan to do a full tour of England in September.
