Singh will also be appearing, as will Ustad Sultan Khan and Sussan Deyhim...

TALVIN SINGH is to curate and perform at a ‘MINI-MELTDOWN’ festival at the LONDON ROYAL FESTIVAL HALL next month.

Singh, who releases a new album, ‘Ha’ , on March 26 via Island, will perform at the venue on April 9. The show comes as part of a wider event, which will also feature live performance from Ustad Sultan Khan and Sussan Deyhim.

Other guests will be confirmed for the event, which is a precursor to the main Meltdown later in the year, as the date approaches. Last year’s ‘Mini-Meltdown’ was curated by Julian Cope.

As previously revealed on NME.COM, the Royal Festival Hall is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. As part of the celebrations, previous Meltdown curators, including John Peel, Scott Walker, Nick Cave and Elvis Costello, have been approached to take part in a special concert to mark the occasion. No further details have yet been confirmed.

The main Meltdown takes place annually at the Festival Hall, and started life as a classical event. Each year, a prominent or influential member of the music world is approached to curate, and as time has progressed, the festival has become more rock-orientated. Last year saw performances from Radiohead and Blur at the festival, which was curated by Scott Walker.
