Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker reforms old band Mink Mussel Creek with Pond members

Side-project rehearsing for one-off gig

Tame Impala frontman Kevin Parker has reunited with his former band Mink Mussel Creek.

Mink Mussel Creek sees Parker team up with ex-Tame Impala member and Pond frontman Nicholas Allbrook plus Shiny Joe Ryan (also of Pond). The band formed in Perth in the early 2000s, releasing one album ‘Mink Mussel Manticore’ in 2011.

Parker posted a photo of the band rehearsing to Instagram, along with the caption: “Gettin the band back together”. Pitchfork reports that the group are preparing for a not-yet-announced one-off live show.

Kevin Parker recently co-produced Lady Gaga’s new single ‘Perfect Illusion’ together with Mark Ronson and BloodPop. In an interview, he described it as a “career-defining moment”.

In April, Parker said he had begun writing and recording new music from his recording studio in Perth.

Tame Impala’s last album ‘Currents’ was released in 2015.
