Taylor Swift expects Ryan Adams’ ‘1989’ covers album to be ‘something really special’

"Ryan Adams is one of the artists who shaped my songwriting," says Swift

Two weeks ago, Ryan Adams announced he was recording a full-length cover version of Taylor Swift’s massively successful pop album, ‘1989’. The singer-songwriter has been posting short snippets of his progress ever since.

Upon hearing about the record, Swift expressed her excitement, saying that she would “pass out” and later adding: “not gonna be able to sleep tonight or ever again and I’m going to celebrate today every year as a holiday”. Now in a statement released to Entertainment Weekly, she reaffirmed that enthusiasm, saying the expects the record to be “something really special”.

“Ryan Adams is one of the artists who shaped my songwriting,” wrote Swift tells the magazine. “My favorite part of his style of creating music is his ability to bleed aching vulnerability into it, and that’s what he’s done with his cover project of my album 1989.”

“When I first heard that Ryan was going to be covering my entire album, I couldn’t believe it,” she added. “It’s such an honour that he would want to take my stories and lyrics and give them a new life. He’s gotten some of the best musicians together to record this album and if the clips he’s released are any indication, this is going to be something really special.”

Adams revealed the news of his surprise project on Twitter and has been keeping fans updated on his progress via social media ever since, sharing previews of ‘Welcome To New York’, ‘Bad Blood’, ‘All You Had To Do Was Stay’, ‘Out Of The Woods’ and ‘Wildest Dreams’. Just yesterday he posted a second snippet of Swift’s single ‘Shake It Off’.

‘1989’ came out last October. A release date for this new version has yet to be announced.
