Teenager falls from stand at Taylor Swift show in Seattle

The 13-year-old is in serious condition

A 13-year-old boy has fallen the equivalent of one storey at a Taylor Swift concert in Seattle, and is now in a serious condition.

Swift’s concert at CenturyLink Field, the home of the Seattle Seahawks NFL team, took place on Saturday night (August 8) as part of her 1989 World Tour.

The Seattle Times reports that the boy fell from the 300 level to the 200 level of the stadium, the equivalent of a one-storey drop. The fall took place as one of Swift’s support acts performed, and the boy has been unable to recall what caused him to fall between the two levels.

The 13-year-old is being treated at Seattle’s Harborview Medical Center, which has reported he is in a serious condition. He was conscious when treated on site, and able to communicate with the medical team.

Swift had had an eventful week, responding ecstatically on social media to Ryan Adams’ covers of ‘1989’ and also reacting angrily as a fan grabbed her in Edmonton on Tuesday night.

The Seattle gig featured a guest appearance from New Jersey rapper Fetty Wap, which Swift also highlighted via her Twitter account, calling his guest slot during her set – the continuation of a ‘special guest’ theme on this tour – “no big deal, just the happiest moment of my life to date.”

Swift’s tour takes a break during the week, and continues in Santa Clara, California on Friday.
