Taylor Swift has surprised a fan by sending her homemade art as well as a gift of $1,989 (£1,300) to pay off her student loan.
Swift, who had already sent presents to numerous fans over Christmas, gave 25-year-old Rebekah Bortnicker the cash, as well as a necklace, a painted picture of herself and a hand-written note, in which she thanked the fan for “cheering me on in the most thoughtful and creative ways.”
She added: “Rebekah, now you’re $1,989 closer to paying off those student loans.”

Bortnicker shared a photo of the parcel, which featured the altered logo “SwiftEX” instead of FedEx, on Tumblr and expressed her gratitude in a video. “I’m still trying to find the words for how I’m feeling. I just love Taylor so much and I can’t thank her enough for this,” she said.
Swift shared the video on her own Tumblr account, captioning the post “I love you so much”. Watch the video of Bortnicker opening the parcel below.
Bortnicker apparently came to Swift’s attention after she posted a self-made video to Tumblr that included Swift and her friends set to the theme tune from Friends. In December, an Arizona schoolteacher received a similar present from Swift after posting a video of herself lip-syncing to Swift’s songs, and another woman in Connecticut opened her door to find Swift herself there with a toy car for her child.
Last month, Taylor Swift became the first artist to top the Billboard Artist 100 for 10 weeks. Her latest album ‘1989’ sold 1.2 million copies in the US in its first week – the highest sales since Eminem’s ‘The Eminem Show’ in 2002.
