Aretha Franklin sings ‘Happy Birthday’ to Taylor Swift – watch

The pop singer turns 25 on Saturday (December 13)

Legendary singer Aretha Franklin[a] paid tribute to [a]Taylor Swift earlier today (December 12) by singing “Happy Birthday” to the pop star.

Swift turns 25 on Saturday (December 13) but Franklin surprised her with the early gift of a rendition of the famous song at Billboard’s ‘Women In Music’ ceremony in New York. Watch footage beneath.


Taylor Swift was honoured with the ‘Woman of the Year’ award at the event, while Aretha Franklin picked up the ‘Icon Award’.

Elsewhere at the event, Ariana Grande won the ‘Rising Star’ prize, while the likes of Paramore’s Hayley Williams, Iggy Azalea, Charli XCX and Jessie J were also in attendance.
