Taylor Swift, Michael Jackson and Lady Gaga Top SoundScan’s Year-End Charts

Susan Boyle and Black Eyed Peas also feature highly

Nielsen SoundScan have released their figures for US music sales in 2009 with Taylor Swift, Michael Jackson and Lady Gaga all featuring highly in the charts.

Topping the album chart was Taylor Swift‘s ‘Fearless’ which sold 3.2 million copies, while Susan Boyle‘s ‘I Dreamed A Dream’ not far behind on 3.1 million copies.

In third spot Michael Jackson‘s ‘Number Ones’ sold 2.3 million copies and Lady Gaga‘s debut ‘The Fame’ came in at Number Four with 2.23 million albums sold.

On the whole combined physical and digital album sales in America dropped by more than 12 per-cent when compared to 2008, but digital track sales broke the one billion mark for the second year in a row.

As for digital songs, the charts where dominated by Black Eyed Peas. The group secured the top two spots with ‘Boom Boom Pow’ and ‘I Gotta Feeling’ selling over 9-million copies combined.

Meanwhile, Eminem and The Beatles where the top two selling artists of the decade, with Eminem selling over 32 million units and The Beatles moving over 30 million since 2000.

8. Eminem – ‘Relapse’ (1,735,000)
9. Jay-Z – ‘Blueprint 3’ (1,515,000)
10. Kings Of Leon – ‘Only By The Night’ (1,398,000)
