Taylor Swift to release her own mobile game

The game is scheduled for release in late 2016

Taylor Swift is to launch her own mobile game later this year.

Today (February 3) it was announced that the pop star had signed a deal with Glu Mobile to work on and release her first game.

As Variety reports, the gaming company have said Swift’s game is scheduled for late 2016. They will release more details about it and Swift’s involvement at a later date.

“We realize that Taylor and her global fan base expect a new and highly differentiated mobile gaming experience,” Glu CEO Niccolo de Masi said. “Glu is equally committed to designing never before seen gameplay elements that utilise Taylor’s unique creativity. Accordingly, we will spend the required development time to ensure this innovation is achieved.”

The company has previously released games for the likes of Kim Kardashian and Katy Perry, and recently signed a deal with chef Gordon Ramsey. Kim Kardashian: Hollywood was Glu Mobile’s first celebrity-based game, which made $43 million in three months of being released.

Earlier this year, it was revealed that AC/DC sold more tour tickets than Taylor Swift in 2015, although Swift had the highest gross for total ticket sales.

The Aussie rockers sold 2.31million tickets over the course of 2015, grossing $180million (£122million), though Swift’s higher ticket prices saw the pop star net $250.4million (£170million) in exchange for her 2.27million tickets, The Pulse of Radio have reported.

One Direction ($158.8million, £108million), U2 ($152.2million, £103million) and Foo Fighters ($127million, £86million) completed the top-five highest grossing acts of the year.
