Ted Cruz responds to Nine Inch Nails telling him to “fuck off” over guest list request

The Republican reportedly asked for free entry to the band's show in Irving, Texas earlier this week

Ted Cruz has responded to Nine Inch Nails‘ Trent Reznor telling him to “fuck off” after the Senator reportedly tried to gain guest list entry to the band’s Texas show earlier this week.

Reznor slammed the high-ranking Republican during NiN’s show in Irving, Texas for apparently requesting free entry to the gig. “He might be here tonight, he was bugging to get on the guest list, and I told him to fuck off,” Reznor told the crowd.

The frontman also claimed that Cruz was once admitted to one of their shows a few years ago but “he drank all the beer, and was just a pain in the ass to be around.”

Cruz has now responded to Reznor’s words by claiming that he has never been a fan of NiN, that Reznor was “joking”, and that the whole story was, yes, “#FakeNews”.

“To all the gullible reporters who are ‘reporting’ that I asked to be on the guest list at a Nine Inch Nails concert: uh, no, NIN is not my music taste,” he tweeted. “He was clearly joking. And for the record, I also didn’t ‘drink all his beer’ the last time… but I would have!”

Earlier this month, Cruz defeated ‘punk politician’ Beto O’Rourke in a closely contested race for a US Senate seat in Texas.

O’Rourke – who once played in a band with members of The Mars Volta and At the Drive-In – had gained huge support from figures across the entertainment industry during his campaign.
