Watch as Tegan and Sara create LGBTQ versions of Bowie and Prince

Young people from the LGBTQ community were cast for the video

Tegan and Sara have released the video for ‘Faint Of Heart’, the fourth single taken from recent album ‘Love You To Death’.

Directed by Devon Kirkpatrick, the video sees young people from the LGBTQ community impersonating various pop icons, as well as impersonating Tegan and Sara themselves.

Impressions of David Bowie, Prince, Madonna, Grace Jones and Elvis all feature, with the real Tegan and Sara only featuring as faces in the crowd.

The band filmed the video the day after the Orlando mass shooting, with Tegan telling Teen Vogue: “First and foremost we just hope it reaches LGBTQ people and makes them feel realised.”

She continued, “some of the themes of the video – mentorship, finding community, expression, bravery – are things you see so many LGBTQ youth actively pursuing in order to thrive. We need to be strong against a lot of hate in this world.”

She added, “[Hopefully] a wider audience is able to see the incredible talent and beauty of LGBTQ youth. I hope that it reminds people to not be consumed with what others might think, but instead to follow their hearts and feel empowered to express themselves freely, openly, and happily.”
