Tegan and Sara unveil ‘Boyfriend’ video – watch

'Boyfriend' is the lead single from forthcoming album 'Love You To Death'

Tegan and Sara have launched the video for ‘Boyfriend’, the opening single from their forthcoming eighth studio album ‘Love You To Death’, which arrives on June 3.

The Clea Duvall directed video features the pair being jazzed up by fashion designer Rachel Antonof, who messes with the set throughout, progressing it from a dimly lit room, through a green screen to dogs and disco lighting.

Sara Quin previously said of the single:

“It’s a pretty straightforward pop song about a relationship that I was getting into with a girl who had never dated a girl before. She had a guy that she was sort of seeing, and we used to joke around that she was treating me like her boyfriend, and I was trying to get her to sort of, you know, tie it down. I wanted her to make it official with me.”

The duo also recently announced an extensive world tour, running on and off from May until November, though the only UK date is at London’s Koko on June 22. They revealed the artwork for ‘Love You To Death’, the follow up to Heartthrob, a couple of months ago.

Heartthrob was the band’s highest-charting album to date and included singles ‘Now I’m All Messed Up,’ ‘Closer’ and ‘I Was a Fool.’

The pair were also involved with The Lego Movie’s ‘Everything is Awesome,’ performing the original song with The Lonely Island at 2015’s Academy Awards ceremony.
