Tekashi 6ix9ine’s child sex crime case closed as he awaits federal sentencing

Charges against Tekashi 6ix9ine for a previous child sex offence have reportedly been dropped, after he was expected to face re-sentencing.

The 22-year-old controversial rapper, whose real name is Daniel Hernandez, was arrested by federal police earlier last month (November 18) and was accused of being a part of violent gang Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods. He has since pled not guilty to the racketeering and firearms charges levelled against him. He could serve up to life imprisonment if found guilty.

According to PageSix, a meeting took place between prosecutors and the rapper’s legal team in which they discussed him being sentenced again to time served for posting a video of a 13-year-old girl engaging in a sex act in 2015.

The case was closed in October when Tekashi was sentenced to 1,000 hours of community service and four years probation. Prosecutors fought for the rapper to be sentenced to four years’ jailtime, and now argue that being imprisoned for his ongoing racketeering case makes him unable to be on probation so will now likely have more prison time served in its place.

Now, TMZ reports that a judge is said to have revoked 6ix9ine’s probation, instead giving him credit for time served so he will not have to serve 1,000 hours of community service. His ongoing federal racketeering and firearms charges have reportedly been listed as “as a reason for the decision.”

Meanwhile, it was reported that this week that Tekashi is also being investigated in connection with the shooting of Chief Keef, after a video emerged that some argue shows him ordering a hit on Keef.

Despite being in prison, last week saw the rapper release his new album ‘Dummy Boy‘.

In our review, NME wrote: “Tekashi has released ‘Dummy Boy’ at the apex of his fame, but at this stage, he’s little more than an internet phenomenon and controversy magnet who also raps. Due to his recent arrest, there’s a very real possibility that he will spend the rest of his life in jail. That, hopefully, will give him enough time to release a better project.”

Tekashi 6ix9ine’s trial is scheduled for September 4, 2019.
