DJ Akademiks says it's "the decision of Tekashi himself"
Tekashi 6ix9ine has released his new album, ‘Dummy Boy’, today (November 28) after multiple delays.
The work of the embattled US rapper, who reportedly pleaded not guilty earlier this week to racketeering and firearms charges, arrives while he remains in custody. Tekashi faces a series of federal charges that could keep him behind bars from 32 years to life imprisonment after bail was denied last week.

DJ Akademiks, a friend of Tekashi, announced the news on Twitter. “This is the decision of Tekashi himself who despite being disappointed about its leak & his current situation wants his fans to enjoy his music,” he wrote.
‘Dummy Boy’ features collaborators with some some of hip-hop’s biggest names including Kanye West and Nicki Minaj on ‘MAMA’. Other appearances on the album come from Atlanta stars Gunna and Lil Baby, as well as A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie.
The record was originally due for release last Friday, November 23 but it was postponed when 6ix9ine (real name Daniel Hernandez) was arrested on Sunday (November 21) with four of associates and suspected gang members. According to TMZ, the rapper is currently being held at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center.
As Rolling Stone reports further, Hernandez’ trial date was set on Monday (November 22) for September 4 2019. He will remain in custody until at least that date unless a bail appeal is successful.
The Game has spoken out on Tekashi 6ix9ine‘s ongoing legal troubles. He said artists trying to break into hip-hop should “focus on music, family and your money”.
