The 1975 pay tribute to victims of Orlando shooting at US gig

The band are currently on tour in the States

The 1975 have paid tribute to those killed in the shooting at Orlando LGBT club Pulse (June 12) during a show on their US tour.

The band, who perform in front of a screen and blocks that light up with different colours, images and patterns throughout their concerts, lit up their stage with the colours of the rainbow during ‘Loving Someone’. Fans on Twitter reported that the band also dedicated the song to those who lost their lives in the attack.

Frontman Matt Healy also tweeted at Lieutenant Governor of Texas Dan Patrick after he posted a Bible verse that was interpreted as spreading hate towards the LGBT community.

“You’re a fucking governor @DanPatrick and you use your position to spread hate & bigotry. If God was real he’d think you were a fucking twat,” Healy wrote.

Patrick has since released a statement clarifying his intentions with the verse, saying: “The verse has nothing to do with God’s judgement on any one person or a specific group of people. If some chose to read into it what they wanted they either have never read Galatians Chapter 6 or have misread it.”
