The 1975 team up with Spotify to host listening party for their self-titled debut album

An exclusive and immersive track-by-track guide to the band's 2013 LP will be available to access on the streaming service

The 1975 have announced that they will be hosting an online listening party for their self-titled debut album this Friday (May 1).

The listening party will take place at 7PM BST tomorrow, and is a joint venture with Spotify. The band will be utilising the immersive Spotify Storylines feature to reveal exclusive new details about the making of their 2013 debut.

Spotify users will be able to access ‘The 1975 Experience’ from tomorrow in time for the listening party. These track-by-track ‘Storylines’ go behind the scenes of The 1975’s debut album, with one such new insight being the band’s revelation that the song ’12’ “was a piece George made on his laptop in its entirety in a Travelodge in Acton while we were mixing the album.”


“Working on the listening parties with Spotify has been full of nostalgia,” The 1975’s frontman Matty Healy said. “From writing the annotations to getting together old content, it has given me a chance to revisit our old records and relive the making of them.

“We’re looking forward to sharing these reflections and hope it gives our fans a deeper and more immersive experience of each album.”

Released on September 2, 2013 via Dirty Hit and Polydor Records, ‘The 1975’ was produced by Arctic Monkeys collaborator Mike Crossey and features the singles ‘Sex’, ‘Girls’, ‘Settle Down’, ‘Robbers’ and ‘Heart Out’.

The album topped the UK Albums Chart on September 8 and was certified platinum in 2014 by the British Phonographic Industry (BPI) for sales of over 300,000 copies.


Meanwhile, The 1975 have confirmed the release date of their fourth album ‘Notes On A Conditional Form’ after numerous delays.
