Shakira, Usher and Adam Levine cover The Beatles – watch

Pop stars perform 'Come Together' on 'The Voice USA' as new season starts

Shakira, Usher and Adam Levine performed a cover of The Beatles‘ ‘Come Together’ on The Voice last night (March 27) as the musical talent show returned to US TV screens.

Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine was joined on stage by Usher and Shakira, who are new coaches for the latest season, as well as fellow coach and country singer Blake Shelton. Usher and Shakira replace the outgoing coaches Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green, who previously appeared on The Voice. The performance featured Usher on vocals and bass with Shakira playing harmonica and Levine drumming.

Meanwhile, The Voice UK returns to BBC1 this Saturday (March 30) with coaches Jessie J, Tom Jones, Danny O’Donoghue and Will.i.am having been informed they must not refer to the shows trademark chairs as “spinning” at any point.

The Sun reports that a number of “format points” have been raised ahead of the show’s second series and that all of the coaches have been told what they can and can’t say while onscreen. A source told the paper that: “Producers have given the coaches a series of strict pointers about what they can and can’t say. One of the most important ones is they must never say that their red chairs spin – they only turn. So if Jessie hits her red button for an act — who are always called artists and never contestants – she should say, ‘I turned my chair for you’. The red chairs only go round 180 degrees so the creators of the show say they can’t be described as spinning, even though that’s what most viewers say.”

Earlier this week it was reported that Paul McCartney has said that Oasis comparing themselves to The Beatles was the “kiss of death” and that no band can live up to the comparison.
