A restored version of The Beatles ‘A Day In The Life’ video has been uncovered ahead of the launch of the fab four’s ‘1+’ compilation, a number one album compilation that will also feature 24 restored videos of the Liverpudlian’s heydays.
The video for the final track from ‘Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Heart Club Band’ features footage filmed across five hours in the company of The Beatles, with Rolling Stones men Mick Jagger and Keith Richards appearing in the footage.
The ‘hanging out’ footage is interspersed with additional filming of an orchestra preparing to perform during recording of the track in 1967. Paul McCartney has called the video “a spectacular reminder of the era we lived in,” talking to Mashable. The new version was painstakingly restored on a frame by frame basis.
GettyThe ‘1+’ compilation will be launched on November 6, almost exactly 15 years after the original ‘1’ compilation, and will feature commentary from Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr on the 24 different video tracks included within it. Like the original, which has sold an estimated 34 million copies, the compilation will feature the Beatles 27 UK number one singles.
Meanwhile, Yoko Ono recently celebrated John Lennon’s life by attempting to make the world’s largest peace sign in New York’s Central Park in honour of the late Beatles man, an endeavour that fell short of the record. The event marked Lennon’s 75th birthday.
