The record was only released in November - but the UK can't get enough of those cheeky Scousers...
THE BEATLES’ greatest hits compilation ‘1’ has become the biggest selling album of the year – despite only being released in November.
‘1’ was released in the UK on November 13, and features 27 Beatles singles which went to Number One in either the UK or US on their release.
The album achieved platinum status within its first week of sale, and has continued to sell at a rate of between 200,000 and 300,000 copies per week. It is now estimated to have sold in the region of 1.3 million copies.
Speaking previously, a chart expert at HMV in London told NME.COM that the record could become one of “the most successful back catalogue records of all time”, and that “it will sell constantly for years”.
