Taking inspiration from spaghetti-western styled work of Italian movie soundtrack composer and singer Nico Fidenco. ‘Year In Review’ has a snippet of Fidenco on it and is, according to drummer Patrick Carney, “the first song we’ve ever used a sample on”. ‘Turn Blue’ also includes The Black Keys’ longest ever song, album opener ‘Weight Of Love’, which comes in at almost seven minutes long. “I’ve never done a guitar solo like that,” frontman Dan Auerbach said.

‘Turn Blue’ was produced by Danger Mouse alongside Auerbach and Carney and was recorded at Sunset Sound in Hollywood last summer as well as at the Key Club in Benton Harbor, Michigan at the start of 2013.
