The Black Keys‘ Patrick Carney is to host his own weekly radio show on satellite radio network SiriusXM.
The programme, called Serious Boredom, debuts tonight (December 20) at 8pm (EST) on the SiriusXMU channel. From January, new episodes will air the first Thursday of every month.
The drummer joins fellow rock stars Dave Grohl and Eddie Vedder as part of SirusXM’s roster. In a statement, Carney said: “I’ve wanted to do a DJ gig like this for a while now and am looking forward to being on air.”
SiriusXM’s President and Chief Content Officer Scott Greenstein said of Carney’s recruitment:
When an influential artist like Patrick Carney gets behind the mic and invites listeners for an inside look into his inspirations and personal favourites, it’s a special, must-hear moment for our subscribers. And we know Patrick Carney’s Serious Boredom will be anything but.
Episode one will include music from Pavement, Guided By Voices, Yo La Tengo and a new duet from Adam Green and Little Joy’s Binki Shapiro. Future episodes will see The Black Keys drummer introducing listeners to his favourite indie artists past and present.
Earlier this month, it was announced that Dave Grohl will host a show on the station titled Dave Grohl Presents Sound City which will feature music recorded at the iconic California studio, about which he has just made a documentary film.
