The video is directed by Chris Marrs Piliero and sees The Black Keys and RZA fighting over a fortune cookie and indulging in some kitchen based kung-fu. At one point, RZA slaps Black Keys frontman Dan Auerbach in the face with a dead fish. Click above to watch the video.
The song is taken from the soundtrack to the forthcoming movie The Man With The Iron Fists, which was written and directed by RZA, real name Robert Fitzgerald Diggs.
The kung-fu movie is set for a US release next month (November 2).
The Black Keys and RZA have collaborated before, on 2009’s ‘Blakroc’ album, which also saw the blues rock duo teaming up with Mos Def, Q-Tip, Raekwon, Ludacris and Pharoahe Monch.
The Black Keys recently shed more light on the plans for the follow-up to last year’s ‘El Camino’ album in an interview with Billboard.
Dan Auerbach explained: “We have a couple of months blocked early next year, like February/March. Pat and I don’t practise or rehearse until we go in to make the record so we won’t really know what it’s going to be like or what’s going to happen till we get in the studio and start working on it.”
He also said that sessions would take place “out of town”, so they could focus on recording without the distractions of friends and family, and claimed that they were capable of making the LP “in two weeks”. “We usually start around 11 and then work till 3 or 4 in the morning and that’s every day,” he said. “Our favorite place to be is in the studio.”
The Black Keys return to the UK later this year for a full arena tour. They will kick off their six-date trek at Newcastle Metro Radio Arena on December 7, before playing Glasgow SECC on November 8, Birmingham NIA on December 9 and Manchester Arena on December 11. The tour will conclude at London’s O2 Arena on December 12 and 13.
