The band are recording with Steve Albini in Chicago...

THE BREEDERS have finally gone into a studio to record the follow-up to 1993’s ‘LAST SPLASH’ album, NME.COM has learned.

The band have decamped to Chicago and have been working with production wunderkind Steve Albini in his studio for just over a week. Sources close to the band say they will be there for at least another fortnight.

No titles or further information about the tracks has been released yet.

Breeders frontwoman Kim Deal has previously worked with Albini when she was in the Pixies. He produced the outfit’s 1988 breakthrough album ‘Surfer Rosa’.

The Breeders played their first live show for a number of years at a low-key event in Los Angeles Hot Pants venue last December.
