The band get very excited about the follow-up to 2001's 'Wonderland'...
THE CHARLATANS are nearing the completion of their eighth studio album, which they are currently recording in their BIG MUSHROOM studios in CHESHIRE.
The band have been working on the follow-up to 2001’s ‘Wonderland’ for six months and have already finished three tracks, ‘Try Again Today’, ‘Feel The Pressure’ and ‘Blue For You’.
In a message on the band’s official website thecharlatans.net, the band revealed more about the new songs currently in progress. They said: “‘Dead Love’ is simply inspired. A most beautiful song. We brought in a cello and viola player in from the Liverpool Philharmonic to play parts as instructed by Mr (Mark – guitar) Collins himself. ‘Up At The Lake’ is mindblowing… possibly the most in your face tune delivered by this band in many a day.”
“You know that sometimes just about everything falls into place and everything that can be right is right about a track… well ‘Up At The Lake’ is about as right as it gets,” they added. “The BIG news is the shared lead vocal tracking on ‘Loving You Is Easy’ featuring Tony (Rogers – organ) alongside Tim… really, really special. ‘Sing You A Hymn’ is almost ready to go and is quite wonderful… rich in melody and a truly beautiful song.”
Other tracks ‘Watch You In Disbelief’ and ‘High Up Your Tree’ are close to being completed and The Charlatans will spend this month mixing the new tracks.
As previously reported on NME.COM, a source close to the band said that an exact release date has not been confirmed, but the album will come out during 2004.
