The Charlatans frontman and Justin Robertson get together to try and capture that West Coast vibe...
THE CHARLATANS frontman TIM BURGESS has been working with LIONROCK founder and legendary DJ/producer JUSTIN ROBERTSON on a new project, described by ROBERTSON as “very West Coast”.
Joining the pair on the project is Rob Playford founder of influential drum ‘n’ bass label Moving Shadow.
“It’s still in its infancy at the moment, but its sounding quite fresh. It
doesn’t sound like any of us,” Robertson revealed. “Its mainly live instruments with a bit of drum programming. It sounds very West Coast, and that is not contemporary house music, but 60s psychedelic.”
Robertson, speaking on BBC Northern Ireland radio show ‘Across The Line’ also said that his own new solo album was near completion.
“I’m just finishing it off right now. I’ve been working with people up in
Edinburgh. It’s very natural and organic sounding, like Tom Tom Club meets Carl Craig,” he said.
There are no confirmed release dates for either project at present.
