Three hour DJ set at The Heavenly Jukebox to give people a sneak preview of third album...

THE CHEMICAL BROTHERS are to debut material from their forthcoming third album at the last Heavenly Jukebox club night at London Clerkenwell Road Turnmills this Saturday, February 20.

The band are following their usual tradition of playing out their latest tracks to an audience to test their reaction. This time, they will be experimenting during a three-hour DJ set, which is set to be one of their only appearances this year. The pair decided which tracks should appear on their last album ‘Dig Your Own Hole’ using the same method.

A spokesman for the club told NME: “I’ve heard some of their new stuff and it’s mind-blowing, absolutely brilliant. It’s certainly going to surprise some people. It’s fitting that they’re playing the last one too, as they’ve been with us since day one.”

As well as their new material, Tom Rowlands and Ed Simons will be playing a mix of Heavenly Social classics that they’ve played out over the past four-and-a-half years at weekly club Heavenly, as will the other billed DJs, Richard Fearless of Death In Vegas and Jon Carter of Monkey Mafia.

The Heavenly Jukebox, which began as the legendary Heavenly Social, organised by the Heavenly record label, will close and a new Heavenly night, Metal Box, starts at London Dean Street Annexe on March 6. Future guests will include Norman Cook, aka Fatboy Slim.

As previously reported, The Chemical Brothers‘ album is as-yet untitled and is due out this summer, on Virgin. It features contributions from Bobby Gillespie, New Order‘s Bernard Sumner, Jonathan Donahue of Mercury Rev, Noel Gallagher and Hope Sandoval from Mazzy Star.

Rowlands has said of the album, “It’s a fairly psychedelic-sounding album so far – it’s the tricky third one!”

Will this be the album of ’99? Will it be an unholy mess? Are the Chemicals still ploughing the same old groove? Tell us what you think. Post a message on Angst
