Former NME snapper Pennie Smith, who famously photographed The Clash‘s iconic ‘London Calling’ cover’ as well as much of The Good, The Bad & The Queen‘s images (pictured), has been honoured at a music press awards ceremony.
Smith, who received NME‘s Godlike Genius award in 2002, was presented with the Outstanding Contribution To Music Photography gong at the Record Of The Day Awards awards by Blur guitarist Graham Coxon in London last night (November 27).
Ex-NME writer Jon Savage also received a similar award for music journalism at The Conway Hall, in Holborn.
Barbra Charone picked up the equivalent PR award.
