The hometown show will take place on June 5
The Courteeners have announced plans for a hometown show at Manchester’s Heaton Park on June 5, 2015.
The outdoor event will mean the band are the first to headline the venue since The Stone Roses’ reunion shows in 2012.
Support acts for the event are yet to be announced, while tickets will go on sale on at 9am on Friday (November 28) and are priced at £29.50.
The Courteeners’ last Manchester shows took place in 2013 at Castlefield Bowl, where the band sold out two nights. Meanwhile, the quartet released fourth album ‘Concrete Love’ earlier this year, with the record reaching Number Three on the UK album charts – their highest chart entry to date.
The band recently completed a short UK tour, playing a selection of dates throughout the country including a headline show at London’s Brixton Academy, which was stopped after a crowd member set off a flare in the venue.
Prior to the show, the group had posted a warning message to their Facebook page, reading, “We’ve been advised by authorities and venues that if any smoke bombs or flares are let off at our gigs then we must stop the show. Do not bring them to gigs.” However, when a flare was still subsequently let off, the band were forced to walk offstage.
The rest of The Courteeners’ tour continued as scheduled, however, with the final date taking place at Liverpool’s Echo Arena last week (November 21).
