The Courteeners announce fifth album ‘Mapping The Rendezvous’ and share new track ‘The 17th’

New record out in October

The Courteeners have announced details of their fifth studio album, as well as sharing a new track.

The Manchester band will release ‘Mapping The Rendezvous’ on October 21. It follows on from 2014 LP ‘Concrete Love’.

New song ‘The 17th’ is currently streaming at The Independent.

The 11-track album was produced by Joe Cross, penned in Paris and recorded in Bath, Loch Ness and Manchester.

Speaking ahead of the album’s release, singer Liam Fray said: “[The period] after the second and third record can be really difficult because you’ve got to prove you can sit at the top table. I feel like we’ve weathered that storm and we might be getting a second opportunity. We feel really lucky to be on our fifth album.”

On responses to new song ‘The 17th’, Fray added: “It’s probably the best reaction we’ve ever had. It’s taken us a bit by surprise; when you’re in the middle of [recording], you’ve got no idea what everyone’s going to think.”
