It's the "musical equivalent of a 13 car pile-up" apparently...

Legendary psychobilly punks THE CRAMPS are set to release their first album in five years next month, and are due to tour the UK in the autumn.

The band, who formed in 1975 and are famous for their insane rock ‘n’ roll performances at the New York punk venue CBGBs, will release ‘Fiends of Dope Island’ on April 21.

Frontman Lux Interior and guitarist Poison Ivy have written a set of “incantational hexes” with titles such as ‘Big Black Witchcraft Rock’ and ‘Dopefiend Boogie’.

A spokesperson for the band said the record is a “musical equivalent of a 13 car pile-up. It is animal music, all primal urge and J.D. madness.”

Founding member and guitarist, Bryan Gregory died of pneumonia in 2001 at the age of 46.
