The Cribs’ Gary Jarman joins Franz Ferdinand

Guest star will play bass with the band this weekend

The Cribs‘ bassist Gary Jarman is set to perform with Franz Ferdinand this weekend at two shows in the US.

Jarman will fill in for Franz‘s regular bassist Bob Hardy at shows in Denver, CO and Salt Lake City, UT tomorrow (August 15) and Sunday (16). At both shows they will be supporting Green Day.

Franz Ferdinand‘s spokesperson told NME.COM that Hardy was missing the gigs because they clash with a wedding he is set to attend.

A message from The Cribs on their official MySpace page, MySpace.com/thecribs, read: “That’s right… for Cribs fans in the USA, look out for Gary… as he will be filling Bob Hardy‘s position on bass guitar for Franz Ferdinand on tour with Green Day.”

The message revealed that Jarman hadn’t had much time to get up to speed with Franz‘s songs. “No practice, no soundcheck, no worries,” the message read.”Just winging it in front of 20,000 people. Sweet.”

Following the tour, Franz will perform at Seattle‘s Bumbershoot Festival on September 7, before heading to the UK for a string of shows.

The two bands have collaborated before – Franz Ferdinand frontman Alex Kapranos produced The Cribs‘ 2007 album ‘Men’s Needs, Women’s Needs, Whatever’.
