Spectacular climax to South By South West festival

Ryan from The Cribs hits the headlines again!

The annual South By South West music festival drew to a close

yesterday (March 18) with triumphant sets from Hot Chip, We Are Scientists, The Charlatans and Wu-Tang Clan legend Ghostface Killah.

The real spirit of SXSW was encapsulated by Ryan Jarman from The Cribs. Just a month after sustaining a nasty injury after diving into a table at the ShockWaves NME Awards, he capped his band’s set at Club DeVille in front of members of The Others and Nine Black Alps by being violently sick onstage.

The five-day new music festival, which ends on Sunday (March 19), gathers together fans and industry from across the globe.

Among the highlights of this year’s event have been sets from The Beastie Boys, The Flaming Lips, Arctic Monkeys and a Dirty Pretty Things set that was stopped by the police!

NME ‘s special South By South West issue is on shelves from Wednesday March 29, with a free 15-track CD featuring the best bands from the festival.
