Fans in Leeds get a special homecoming treat...
Leeds’ two favourite indie-popsters are touring the UK together, and last night saw them go collaboration crazy at their homecoming show at the city’s Metropolitan University.
Then later, as the Kaiser Chiefs set came to a climax, all three The Cribs took the stage to sing vocals on ‘Modern Way’. The bands have recorded each others’ songs on a limited edition split seven inch single.
Ricky told NME.COM after the show: “I was a lot more nervous getting onstage to do one of their songs than I am to do ours. I didn’t wanna let them down, because they came on and all three of them came on. They are charmingly messy, good boys.”
He continued: “I really enjoyed (the show), I enjoyed every single moment of it, it went past so quickly, we came onstage and I thought we’d missed out a huge bunch of songs because it just went like that. It was really good fun, and Leeds has been good to us, so hopefully we can be good to Leeds.”
Earlier on in the show, The Cribs dedicated ‘Mirror Kissers’ to Edwyn Collins, who is recovering from a cerebral haemorrhage. Collins produced the band’s forthcoming second album ‘The New Fellas’.
