Band's UK tour arrived at Electric Ballroom in Camden last night (February 12)
The Cribs played a wealth of new material during their NME Awards Show 2015 with Austin, Texas at The Electric Ballroom in Camden, north London last night (February 12).
Taking to the stage to the Allesi Brothers’ song ‘Savin’ The Day’, as heard on the 1989 Ghostbusters soundtrack, the band began their set with fan favourite ‘Mirror Kissers’.
The gig was mainly used as a platform for debuting new material though with Ryan Jarman encouraging people to get into the songs they don’t know as much as those they do. “”Does anyone want to hear a new song? he asked at one point. “I hate it when you see a band and they play new songs and nobody moves. Let’s start a moshpit.”
The Cribs release new album ‘For All My Sisters’ in March and played seven new songs from the record during their 90-minute set at the north London venue.
First up there was ‘An Ivory Hand’ while Ryan Jarman admitted that he was struggling to remember how to play another new song, ‘Summer Of Chances’. Elsewhere, the guitarist described ‘Pink Snow’ as his “favourite Cribs song.” Other new songs played on the night included ‘Different Angle’, ‘Finally Free’, ‘Burning For No-One’ and ‘Mr Wrong’.
The sold-out audience did not go home without having heard a wealth of material from the Wakefield band’s back catalogue, however, with many chanting the riff to ‘Another Number’ before the gig even started. That song figured midway through the setlist with Ryan Jarman stopping to allow the crowd to chant his guitar part for him. Meanwhile, waves of crowd-surfers descended over the barrier during ‘Hey Scenesters!’, ‘Men’s Needs’, ‘Martell’ and ‘Cheat On Me’.
“They say London crowds don’t like to dance but you’re fucking great, Ryan Jarman said. “Cribs fans are a different breed.” Meanwhile, before playing set closer ‘City Of Bugs’, his brother Gary promised that the band will be on the road again shortly. “We’ll be back really soon. Miss you already.”
The Cribs played:
