The Cribs, Only Real, Public Access TV, The Districts to play SXSW 2015

Wolf Alice, East India Youth, The Amazing Snakeheads and King Tuff are also newly announced for the Austin festival

SXSW have announced the second round of bands set to play the music portion of the Austin, Texas arts and media festival next year.

The Cribs, Public Access TV, Wolf Alice, The Districts, Only Real, East India Youth, Gang Of Four and The Amazing Snakeheads will all play the event, which takes place at venues throughout the city from March 13-17, 2015. Cancer Bats, Jacco Gardner, Ikonika, King Tuff, Nikki Lane, Mallory Knox, San Fermin, The Ting Tings, Twin Shadow, The Voyeurs, Weyes Blood and The Zombies are also newly announced.

They join previously announced acts Jessie Ware, Courtney Barnett, Carl Barât & The Jackals, James Bay, Bishop Nehru, The Big Pink, Thee Oh Sees and Ibeyi. Happyness, Dry the River, Ballet School, Baby In Vain, Moon Duo, The Pop Group, Songhoy Blues, Skinny Lister, The Twilight Sad and Twin Peaks.

The festival recently confirmed that they are not trying to ban unofficial events from next year’s event. The festival suffered a blow when four attendees were killed in a car crash earlier this year and a safety report by events firm Populous had suggested that a ban on unofficial events could prevent further incidents.

SXSW released a statement clarifying their position on the matter, which states that they will be implementing certain new safety measures, but will not be imposing a ban on these gigs. The statement reads: “We’ve been careful not to say anything that implies we’re trying to ban unofficial events because, even if we could, we wouldn’t try to do that. We totally get that unofficial events are part of the appeal of SXSW, though the line between ‘official’ and ‘unofficial’ can be hard to distinguish.”
