The Wakefield band, a trio once more after the departure of Johnny Marr last April, will release the album on Monday (May 7), but you can hear it in full now.

The album was largely recorded in New York with MGMT and Flaming Lips producer David Fridmann at his Tarbox Road studio. There were also further sessions at Abbey Road in London and with Nirvana and Pixies producer Steve Albini in Chicago.

Speaking to NME about the album, singer Ryan Jarman said: “This record’s more honest. I’ve always been conscious that I don’t want to be too honest because it makes me cringe, but on this record there are definitely songs that are about personal stuff that’s gone on in my life.”

The band also spoke about the album more generally, adding: “Our fifth album. Conceived in a basement in Portland, a garage in Wakefield, and various scummy motels throughout the pacific northwest. We were influenced, at various times during writing, with “Innuendo”, monster munch, spokey dokeys, and a desire to locate an unopened Tab Clear.”
