The Cure have been announced as guests for Brian Cox and Robin Ince’s Christmas Compendium of Reason gig next week.
The band will perform twice at Hammersmith’s Eventim Apollo as part of two night of science, music and comedy on Thursday, December 18 and 19. The annual gig is hosted by comedian Ince and TV physicist Cox, who announced news of the special guests via Twitter yesterday.
Few tickets left for Thursday 18th Hammersmith show – so – playing 'happy songs' – one of our bands is … The Cure http://t.co/azLXghD7Ev

The gig will act as a warm up for The Cure, who headline three nights at the same venue between December 21-23.
Earlier this year a]The Cure[/a] frontman Robert Smith revealed to NME that the group’s next album will be a mix of brand new material and unused material from 2008’s ‘4:13 Dream’, their most recent record. Smith said he wanted that album to be a double, but just a single album was eventually released.
