The curse! AS Roma have “banned” players from taking photos with Drake

Stay away, Drizzy...

AS Roma have jokingly banned their players from taking photos with Drake after he was branded a “curse” for sports teams.

The Canadian rapper has gained a reputation for being a bad luck charm after posing with footballers or their team’s shirt.

On Sunday evening, Paris Saint Germain suffered a shock 5-1 loss at the hands of Lille, only days after full-back Layvin Kurzawa posed for a photo with Drake.

And weeks previously, Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero posed for a selfie at Drake’s Manchester Arena show. It was followed shortly by Aguero’s penalty miss in their defeat to Tottenham Hotspur in the first leg of the Champions League quarter finals.

Now, it seems that Roma aren’t taking any chances. “All Roma players banned from taking photos with Drake until the end of the season,” they quipped on Twitter.

Other stars who have fallen victim to the curse include Arsenal’s Pierre Emerick Aubameyang, who met Drake only days before the team’s 1-0 loss to Everton earlier this month. It’s the same for Manchester United’s Paul Pogba, who posed with the rapper before the team’s defeat to Wolves in the FA Cup Quarter Finals.

It’s believed that the apparent “curse” dates back to 2013 when NBA side Toronto Raptors announced that Drake was to become a global ambassador for the side. Since then, they’ve developed a reputation for failing to perform in big games.

In other news, Drake’s currently locked in a feud with Wiley after his close relationship with British grime artists led Wiley to accuse him of being a “culture vulture”.
