But is it good enought to beat the mighty Cliff Richard to the top of the festive charts?

THE DARKNESS have declared their Christmas single ‘(CHRISTMAS TIME) DON’T LET THE BELLS END’ a “masterpiece”.

On Sunday, their single ‘I Believe In A Thing Called Love’ re-entered the UK charts at Number Two, but already the band are looking forward to the release of their festive single.

The track will be a double A-side, with ‘Friday Night’ as the second song.

“The Christmas Number One is what we’re going for – it’s a

double A-side called ‘(Christmas Time) Don’t Let The Bells End’ and ‘Friday Night’,” Dan Hawkins said. “It’s a masterpiece – a true work of art that will be around for years to come.”

He told Virgin Radio: “There was the

option of releasing it slightly earlier and not going up against the big guns like Cliff Richard and the Pop Idols for the Christmas Number One, but we think we’ll give it a shot. It’s about time there was a rocking Christmas”.
