The spandex-clad heroes also reveal more about their stack of new material...

The Darkness‘ JUSTIN HAWKINS has revealed yet more information about the band’s Christmas single – as well speaking about what to expect from their new material.

The as-yet-untitled Christmas single has recently been recorded with Kiss, Aerosmith and [/a] collaborator Bob Ezrin on production duties.

Hawkins said: “It’s got a kiddies choir on it, it’s got tubular bells – it’s your basic full-on Christmas experience. And the chorus is world class, one bit goes ‘Don’t let the bells end, just let them ring in peace’. It gonna be lovely.”

Speaking to Xfm, Hawkins also said that fans going to see [a] on their forthcoming mammoth winter tour of the UK and Ireland – kicking off at Dublin’s Vicar Street on October 2 – can expect to hear a selection of new tracks.

He said: “The B-sides of the new single ‘I Believe In A Thing Called Love’ will be there… But everything we’re writing at the moment is sounding really amazing, we’ve really honed it down.”

“We’ve been really busy so it’s been difficult to find time to record but we’ve made time,” he added. “All my favourite bands have really interesting or brilliant B-sides and it pisses me off when bands just knock em out – it really pisses the kids off. It’s important to be proud of what you release or how can you expect people to like it either?”

The spandex-clad singer said that ‘Love You Five Times’, one of the band’s oldest songs, will appear as a B-side on the Christmas release.

“Then there’s ‘Physical Sex”, Hawkins said. “(It) includes the lyrics ‘Phone sex and cyber sex ain’t all that, I prefer to take my sex in its original format, so you know what you can do with your mouse mat’.

Other new material includes ‘We Can Keep Ourselves Amused’ and ‘Dinner Lady Arms’.
