The band were forced to hire a new drummer after Emily Davies quit in April. Davies (pictured right with the rest of the band’s remaining members) was the replacement for founder member Ed Graham, who left at the end of 2014.
However, in a new interview with Real Radio XS (via Blabbermouth), guitarist Dan Hawkins confirmed that Rufus Taylor will join them for forthcoming live dates. “We already have someone, and we actually played our first show with him last night. The ‘drummist’ will be known as Rufus Taylor, son of Roger Taylor.”
Taylor has already begun gigging with the band, having appeared at a London release party for the band’s upcoming album, ‘Last Of Our Kind’ on April 24. Frontman Justin Hawccins uploaded the following clip of Taylor rehearsing with the band on Instagram yesterday (May 8).
The Darkness will release ‘Last Of Our Kind’, their fourth record, on June 1. It follows on from 2012’s ‘Hot Cakes’.
Justin Hawkins recently co-wrote a song on Weezer’s latest album, ‘Everything Will Be Alright In The End’, and was selling his old catsuits on Ebay last year.
