Punk princess loses husband and gains a new identity...

frontwoman BRODY ARMSTRONG has changed her name following the end of her marriage to TIM ARMSTRONG, of punk pioneers Rancid.

Now known as Brody Dalle, the change signifies the definite end of the relationship which disintegrated when Tim saw pictures of Brody stepping out with Queens Of The Stone Age frontman Josh Homme.

The affair divided the punk world, splitting fans of Rancid, Distillers andQueens Of The Stone Age, and turning their messageboards into a merry-go-round of insults and threats.

The break-up also attracted criticism from other musicians, including a barrage from Kelly Osbourne, who called Brody a “fake” for keeping the Armstrong name.

Brody met Tim on New Year’s Eve 1995 when she was just 16. Her band Sourpuss had landed a slot on Australia’s Somersault Festival which also featured Rancid.

In 1997, when Brody turned 18, she moved to Los Angeles to live with Tim and formed Distillers. The Rancid guitarist also released the band’s second album ‘Sing Sing Death House’ on his Hellcat Records label.

However, Brody recently went back to Australia to write songs and it was there that she hooked up with Homme.

Unknown to Tim, a relationship blossomed between the punk princess and Homme, made very public when pictures of the couple swapping spit appeared in a June issue of Rolling Stone. This was the first Tim had seen or heard of his wife’s wandering.
