The Divine Comedy’s ‘Swallows And Amazons’ musical will move to London’s West End for Christmas

'Swallows And Amazons’ to embark on UK tour next year

A musical scored by Neil Hannon of The Divine Comedy is to move to London‘s West End in winter this year, just in time for Christmas.

Swallows And Amazons will run for five weeks from December 15 to January 14 at the Vaudeville Theatre, before launching a full UK tour. Tour dates will be announced on September 1.

The production first opened at the Bristol Old Vic on December 1 last year. Producer Edward Snape told The Stage that the tour will open in early 2012. “It’s 20 weeks, it’s a big tour,” he said.

The musical is based on Arthur Ransome‘s classic children’s book. It is not the first time the book has been dramatized, a popular film version of the novel was released in 1973.

The Divine Comedy released their tenth album ‘Bang Goes The Knighthood’ in 2010. They play tomorrow night (July 26) as part of the Greenwich Summer Sessions. The show takes place at the Old Royal Naval College, London. Support comes from Jose Gonzales.
