The late Doors legend is immortalised, complete with mic, stand, backdrop and leather trousers...
DOORS legend JIM MORRISON is to be immortalised as a plastic action figure.
McFarlane Toys, who recently made Metallica into dolls, announced yesterday that the figure will go on sale in the US in September, and will also come with a microphone, stand and backdrop. Morrison is said to wear leather trousers, according to US press reports.
A spokesman for McFarlane Toys told the New York Post: “The Doors were the quintessential rock band of all time. Everyone knows who Jim Morrison is – he has an edgy image to him.”
Yesterday (July 3) marked the 30th anniversary of Morrison’s death. The singer died in a Paris apartment on July 3 1971 at the age of 27. Following his death, he was buried in the city’s Pere Lachaise cemetery, which has since become a shrine for fans and one of Paris’s main tourist attractions.
Thousands of fans made a pilgrimage to the cemetery yesterday watched by security officials. However, there was no repeat of the events of 1991, when police had to disperse a restless crowd with tear gas.
In addition to the fans, fellow Doors member Ray Manzarek was in Paris, where he screened rare band footage, while a series of tribute bands will played live across the city.
