The Duke Spirit soar in Los Angeles

The London quintet wow a star-studded crowd

The Duke Spirit wowed a sold-out, star-studded crowd at The Echo in Los Angeles last night (March 5).

Led by frontwoman Liela Moss, the London quintet displayed an icy cool demeanour at the BMI showcase as they ran through several tracks from their new album ‘Neptune’.

“We are very appreciative of your being here tonight,” Moss told the audience, which included Oasis brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher and members of Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and Biffy Clyro.

“It was a fucking long flight so we’re glad there are some people here.”

The crowd cheered back in response, yet remained oddly quiet in between songs.

The band ran through tracks including ‘Into the Fold’, ‘Send a Little Love Token’, and ‘Cuts Across the Land’.

A highlight of the evening was ‘Neptune’s Call’ on which Moss started out singing a cappella and played harmonica.

The Duke Spirit are set to play several shows at Austin’s South by Southwest Festival next week, including NME‘s party on March 14.
